What is wastewater lagoon protection?
Wastewater lagoon protection is the coordinated design of containment, hydraulic control, surface management, access, and monitoring around an open treatment or storage basin. Different components solve different problems and should have separate performance requirements.
How lagoon systems work together

When to use each component
Use only the systems tied to a defined process or environmental requirement. A baffle is justified by hydraulic need, a liner by containment need, a modular cover by surface-management need, and a continuous cover by a continuity or capture need. A biological programme is justified only by treatable organic solids and suitable operating conditions. A lagoon may require several, but the design should not blur their claims.
Modular cover vs continuous membrane
Modular elements support adaptable surface management and local replacement. Continuous membranes provide a connected barrier but introduce anchor, drainage, and larger-area repair considerations. Gas capture is the decisive boundary: modular systems do not provide it.
