What is an EPDM pond liner?

An EPDM pond liner is a synthetic rubber sheet installed over a prepared pond basin to form a low-permeability barrier. Its flexibility allows the sheet to follow curves and changes in level, which can be useful on smaller ponds with detailed shapes.

The project should specify a pond-liner product and compatible accessory system rather than relying on the polymer name alone. Roofing membranes, pond membranes, adhesives, tapes, and penetrations are not automatically interchangeable.

When to use EPDM

EPDM is often considered for garden-scale, leisure, aquaculture, and other irregular ponds where flexibility and detail work dominate the installation. It can also suit larger water features when the project team has a qualified design, appropriate joining plan, and a confirmed membrane grade.

EPDM liner vs floating cover
